What This Studio Is Built Around

Starting something new is both exciting and clarifying. When I decided to open this studio, I spent a lot of time getting honest about what kind of work I believe in, who I want to serve, and how I want people to feel when they walk through the door. Located in the Bankers Hill neighborhood of San Diego, this private studio was designed to offer focused, individualized care without the noise of a traditional gym.

This studio was built around one simple idea: movement should be intentional, effective, and individualized.

Not rushed.
Not generic.
Not disconnected from the body you actually live in.

Why a Private Studio?

I chose to run a private Pilates studio using the reformer, tower, and chair, alongside a private physical therapy practice and integrated manual services. That choice was very intentional.

Private sessions allow me to truly see the person in front of me — their movement patterns, their compensations, their history, their goals. Whether someone is here for rehabilitation, performance, longevity, or simply to feel better in their body, the work can be tailored in a way that group fitness simply doesn’t allow.

This doesn’t mean group movement doesn’t have value. It means that this space prioritizes quality over quantity, precision over pace, and long-term results over quick burnouts.

Effectiveness Over Exhaustion

One of the biggest misconceptions about Pilates (and rehab-based movement in general) is that if it doesn’t feel brutal, it must not be working.

In reality, the most effective movement often looks calm from the outside.

Controlled resistance, precise alignment, breath-driven core work, and thoughtful sequencing challenge the nervous system and musculature in a way that creates real change — not just temporary fatigue.

Clients often tell me they’re surprised by how strong they feel afterward, or how much more connected they feel to their body. That’s not accidental. That’s the point.

Accessibility, Intentionally Considered

I’m very aware that a private studio model is not accessible to everyone — and I don’t take that lightly.

That’s why I offer a mat Pilates class capped at no more than eight students.

The smaller class size allows me to maintain what this studio is built around: proper form, safe progressions, and individual attention — even in a group setting.I believe movement should be empowering, not overwhelming. Smaller groups help ensure that people feel supported, seen, and confident in what they’re doing.

Integrated Manual Services: Treating the Whole Picture

Movement doesn’t exist in isolation. Neither does pain, stiffness, or dysfunction.

That’s why this studio integrates manual therapy services alongside movement — including therapeutic massage, cupping, and assisted stretching. Sometimes the body needs hands-on work to prepare it for movement, recover from stress, or restore range of motion.

When manual therapy and movement work together, progress tends to be more efficient and longer-lasting.

Looking Ahead

This blog is just the beginning.

I’ll be sharing more about my physical therapy services, why I chose to operate out-of-network, and how this model allows me to provide more comprehensive, individualized care. I’ll also be diving deeper into Pilates, rehabilitation, strength, and what sustainable movement actually looks like over time.

If you’re here, thank you for being part of the beginning. This studio was built with intention — and I’m excited to share the work with you.
